Sprint`s wireless plans offer more than twice the data as Verizon for the same price
A few years ago people used cell phones mostly to communicate by calling and texting. However, as phones became smarter, these functions lost a lot of their importance to browsing the web, checking social networking sites, playing games, etc. To make full use of all smart functions, though, you need the internet and if you don’t have access to Wi-Fi, your only option is a carrier plan with data. As a result, the amount of data offered in plans is now the main leverage carriers have over the competition. And it looks like Sprint might have a great opportunity to score new customers by launching new wireless plans that offer more than twice the data as Verizon for the same price.

Sprint just added a number of plans to its offer and one of the options includes a massive 40GB of data for $100 per month. The carrier is even willing to pay for you the costs of switching networks.

There’s no doubt that Sprint’s new plans for families called Better Choice Plans are meant to compete directly with Verizon’s offer, since even data buckets come in S, M, L, XL and XXL versions, the same as Big Red’s. There’s one very important difference, though – Sprint’s plans come with about two times as much data as Verizon’s but cost exactly the same.

The Small plan includes 3GB of data for $30 per month, while the Medium version doubles data to 6GB for $45 per month and the Large plan comes with 12GB of data and costs $60 per month. If you still need more, you can opt for either the XL plan with 24GB of data for $80 per month or the XXL plan with $40GB of data for $100 per month. For comparison, Verizon’s S, M, L, XL and XXL plans include 1GB, 3GB, 6GB, 12GB and 18GB of data, respectively.

Another difference is that while Verizon charges overage fees of $15 for each GB above your high-speed data allotment, Sprint gives you a choice – when you hit the data cap, either the speed will be throttled to 2G or you can buy more high-speed data for $15 for 1GB. Other than that, Sprint’s new Better Choice Plans, like most plans offered these days, include unlimited talk and text. In addition, the carrier is willing to give you a credit of up to $650 which should cover the costs associated with switching carriers.

If you don’t want to worry about data caps and throttled speed, you can opt for an unlimited LTE plan for families. Such plan costs more than Better Choice Plans, but in addition to unlimited talk and text it also offers unlimited data. Unlimited plan for a single line is priced at $75, two lines cost $120 and three and four lines will set you back $150 per month (the fourth line is free). Each new line between fifth and tenth will add another $30 to your bill.

Sprint launched new wireless plans

Better Choice Plans go live today and may be a lifesaver for Sprint. Recently the carrier hit a rough patch and had to let go of 2,500 employees after its Japanese parent company SoftBank informed that Sprint’s operating expenses will have to decrease by $2 billion. It seems that the only way for the carrier to improve its situation is to gain new customer and what better way to do it than offer twice as much data as the rivals.
